I think that this philosophical concept of how a mindset can affect one's outcome or performance is a brilliant idea. The problem is just how you would convey that idea/problem/event. In a personal reflective, you're writing about an event that you experienced (basically a non-fictitious short story) that includes: a beginning to the conflict, the conflict itself writing essay topics for ielts, and your resolution. So how would you introduce this? I think that your resolution should be this very philosophical concept of your own mindset affected your performance (on something) essay writing on music, and now, having learned, you'll try to be a little bit more open-minded. You need an event now. Something to show how you were narrow-minded and set on an idea/belief (beginning), what happened as a result (the conflict) essay topics for high school students, and then what you realised from this event/mistake/narrow-mindedness (resolution). That example has completely put me off writing a reflective essay. Unfortunately I'm not a mature student. I don't think I can think of idea nearly as detailed or personal as that but I do know what you mean by insignificant, it really hasn't had a major impact on my life. I will give creative writing a try although it will probably just as hard. Yeah I think this is why I'm struggling to come up with an idea because I've has fairly uneventful life so far. An example we looked at was about how crowds change people which I don't think drastically changed their life, so I'm not sure if that aspect is always required. When I suggested doing about how mindset can affect outcome or performance essays on pet animals, my lecturer thought it was a good idea but I couldn't come up with an experience. Can you advise any more or should I just attempt a creative writing? I like this idea! I think the best thing to do would be to develop on the significance of the tyre kit and the coincidence of your burst tyre the next day apa style format for essays, and how it affected you opinion about global warming essay, how it made you feel and think i.e. just rant a little on your emotions and the shock you felt. The main idea of a reflective essay is to reflect back on an event and emphasise your feelings of what happened as much as possible! Themes, here, would include: pride, preconceived misconceptions (judgement) etc (Original post by Quick-use ) Last edited by Quick-use; 18-02-2012 at 16:16. Nfergs your essay, when you send it away to SQA example of a term paper, will be scanned for plagiarism and it being on here isn't a great idea at all. I'd delete it. Sometimes, it can be very helpful to reflect on an event that happens regularly (like a birthday) to think about that event's meaning in your life. On the other hand, once-in-a-lifetime events (like a special vacation or a wedding) can also be turning points which make good essays. For the movie review, I also used the brainstorming process, but in a slightly different way. Before I used idea webs and an outline of my ideas, but this time I studied the experts. I read tons of movie reviews online and studied the structure of the professional reviews. I then based my structure on what I saw and filled in my facts, opinions, and summary of the plot the way I had seen the experts do it. The rave was very easy to write, because you didn’t need to sound fair as a reviewer. Then, turning that rave into a full-length movie review was a little more difficult, but I was very happy with how my review turned out. The revision process for this assignment was less helpful to me than the peer review. Having an individual conference with the professor seemed less about revision and strengthening my essay but more about reviewing what I had already written and tweaking a few minor things. Regardless, I was happy with how my review turned out in the end. Once I had all that down, I wrote my essay and included the facts from my research. Then came a whole new struggle: MLA citing and documentation. Luckily I had several resources at my disposal to help me with the documentation, but it was still a little bit tricky for me to grasp. Overall, I think my modest proposal turned out to be my strongest piece of writing for the whole semester and I think that is because I spent so much time working on it. Any reference to either of these essays must be correctly cited and attributed; failure to do so constitutes plagiarism and will result in a failing grade on the portfolio and possible other serious consequences as stated in the CSUCI Code of Conduct. I know that my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge has grown stronger each semester. I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is coherent and correct according to assignments. I can remember being told numerous times in community college to "organize your thoughts" or "provide more support and examples". These are the things that I have worked on and improved over the past couple of years and I feel that my work shows this. The papers I wrote when I first started here at C.I. were bland and short. In these early papers, I would just restate what we learned in class and what I had found in my research. I did not formulate my own ideas and support them with the works of others. The classes I have taken the past couple semesters have really help me shed that bad habit and write better papers with better ideas. I have learned how to write various styles of papers in different forms and different fields. I feel confident that I could write a paper about most anything and know how to cite and format it properly. Sample Reflective Essay #2
