Personal Statement: Media and Communications 3 - The Student Room, personal statement communication.3/29/2017 As a student of English, I have developed a strong interest in media. This development seems inevitable on two accounts. There is first the longtime influence of my mother who used to be a journalist and is now a senior editor. Another factor is my character. I have known to other as lively good dissertation introduction example, energetic, sociable essay how to write, and communicative. As a child, I practiced playing piano and also practiced dancing of China’s minorities for more than five years. Those artistic talents made me a leader in extracurricular activities. By actively participating in those activities, I learned how to plan, manage and launch major events. Since September 2002, one year after I began my undergraduate programme at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute of XX, I have been acting as art and entertainment representative of the class, the director of Art and Entertainment Department of the School’s Students Union, and vice chair of the University Students Union. In my various positions essay editing service online, I masterminded and launched a series of important events and served as anchorwoman. Those events include the university’s annual large-scale performance in commemoration of the December 19 Incident from 2001 to 2003, freshmen receptions and summer evenings in 2002 and 2003. Learning English as my major has allowed me to have important experiences of the cultures of the English-speaking countries. I used to be a volunteer who showed a group of British and American teachers working in China around the city of XX. While familiarizing them with the Chinese culture, I learned about their own cultures. As sophomore and junior, I took part in many exchange programmes with international students studying in XX, among whom were students from the UK, Canada and America. I believe that this cultural knowledge will be useful to my prospective studies in Communications Studies because your programme is best understood in a cultural context. I would like to express my desire to study at the *** University in for 2013/14 academic year. I am applying for the Master degree in Communications from the Ecole de la communication. As for my other personal qualities I can mention my purpose and leadership skills. As a student I used to participate in a huge variety of group projects. I was often a team leader responsible for information gathering, role distribution, coordinating dates and interpersonal activities. Each time I headed the project our team achieved only the best results. In 2011 I have had a great opportunity to study abroad - I was chosen to participate in Erasmus Program and went for one semester to the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigshafen, Germany. This experience gave me not only academic knowledge but also a capacity to adapt to a multicultural society. As a part of my studying process I am a member of Student's Scientific Society, in which every year I participate in the Annual Science Student Conference. One of my projects called "Corporate Identity and Corporate Image as the Foundation for Corporate Communication" won the first place in my university and was chosen to participate in the All-Russian competition of student's projects. During my studying at *** I will focus on such topics as Marketing and Brand Communications, Strategic Corporate Communications, Brand, Digitals and Creatives intercultural communication essays, Brands International Management. I have a strong interest in these fields and, moreover, my researches done during my studies are closely linked with it as well as my working experience. While preparing a dissertation I want to combine all my knowledge received from my multidisciplinary studying. In my future dissertation I want to make a comparative analysis of modern Russian and French politics who are seen as brands of these countries: for instance, Putin and Sarkozy. They both are very bright and well-known persons in the whole world. What makes them so famous and compel attention to their activities? What marketing tools do they use during their work? I hope that living in Paris, the heart of Europe, will provide all the resources needed and assist me in making such a research. In college research paper for, my desire for a career in medicine has grown stronger. The fear I felt just two days before my brother's surgery esl argument essay examples, taught me to be strong. I was miles away from my family, yet I had one last exam before I could join them. When I was finally by their side, it was three hours into his surgery essay on me myself and i, and all we could do was share our feeling of helplessness. Now, when I lean my ear against my brother's chest, the 'lupp-swish' of Vinny the Valve reminds me of the fear I felt that day, but the fear is far from over; Vinny will need replacement within the next ten years. My desire to interact with people and understand their experiences and ideas actually stemmed from my early childhood exposures to people in a hospital setting. As I was growing up, my parents, both dedicated physicians, often took me to the hospital with them. Since I spent most of my time tagging along with my parent or the nurses, I had the opportunity to interact with many patients. All the different kinds of people fascinated me and I was curious to know who the patients were, what was wrong with them, and how they were being treated and cured. I always had a million questions to ask interesting topics for speeches grade, and this desire to learn more about people and medicine has only increased over the years. My home has been a place of healing for many broken hearts, both literally and figuratively. My younger sister had two open heart operations before the age of two. I was three years old, and I tried to be the best big sister in the world. I thought that if I loved her enough, her heart would heal itself. My brother was three and thirteen when he had his heart surgeries. This time example of outline for thesis paper, I was older and much more fearful, but my brother is the proud new owner of Vinny the Pulmonary Valve. Thus, two hearts have healed quite literally in my home. The ability to communicate clearly and concisely is the key to the success of a doctor's relationship with his/her patients. I am working on improving my communication skills through being a supplementary instructor (SI) and tutor. Tutoring introductory courses has sharpened my ability to present information effectively since I must reorganize and reword complex concepts into terms that beginning students can understand. As an SI samples of an essay paper, I also gained valuable communication skills through holding weekly summary sessions. My job as a tutor for international students has taught me important skills in communicating with non-native speakers. As managed care plays a greater role in our health care system, the relationship between a physician and administrators is becoming increasingly complex. I am currently minoring in health care policy and management so that I will be able to make decisions that will optimize the benefits to the patients. I have also taken Health Psychology and Medicine and Society. These classes have helped me to better understand the relationships between mental health and physical health as well as social condition and the health care system. The skills I have gained would be my improvement as a positive communicator wanting to resolve issues that affect my work and relationships. I am able to look at different situations from different angles. I appear to be more effective in my communication with co-workers because they seem more open in discussing issues and seeking communication advice. My ability to communicate with upper management has also improved. Before hand I was timid to the idea of openly conversing with management because I wasn’t comfortable with my communication skills. Participating in the communications major has provided me with the tools to develop proper questions and terminology needed to interact with management. Along with communicating one on one, being able to facilitate through conferences is another skill that I have learned through my studies in communications. Having to conduct group discussions and workshops through my education at SJSU enabled me to constructively facilitate through conferences and meetings. As I've completed my studies, my skills have become more suited to this area. My confidence has grown and any opportunity given to write creatively or present in front of a large group of people has been relished. In Law I discovered the consequences that negative media can have, with examples of newspapers being taken to court for defamation and in Sociology I explored the different values that societies have and how cultures can find different things offensive. These aspects of my courses have helped me realise the different things that affect audience when it comes to the media. Knowing how competitive the media industry is, I have realised how important relevant work experience is. I managed to get a placement at the local theatre where I learnt about the lighting and audio for theatre productions as well as pyrotechnics and front-of-house interaction. I had to complete tasks including creating an educational booklet for local schools and writing a film review to be published in the local paper. I have many relevant skills, already thesis statements for argumentative essays, such as communication skills learnt from english and from taking part in drama activities in sixth form, both of which have given me great confidence for performing in front of large groups. I have learnt how to work in a team through geography field trips collecting data and know how to work individually from presenting or producing coursework. I also have good IT skills and can use programs such as PowerPoint and Publisher confidently and competently.
